MUSIC
Music is the language of the Divine.
It is the one language that all people understand.
It is the one language that transcends all political, racial,
and religious boundaries. No metter how diverse or far apart our philosophies
or cultures may be,through music we heal the world .
Through music we can become enlightened.
I believe one can experience complete realization and liberation through signt and sound.
Steven Seagal -
Blues is the name given to both a musical form and a music genre created within the African-American communities in the Deep South of the United States at the end of the 19th century from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads.[1] The blues form which is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues and rock and roll is characterized by the use of specific chord progressions — the twelve-bar blues chord progressions being the most frequently encountered — and the blue note that for expressive purposes are sung or played flattened or gradually bent in relation to the pitch of the major scale.
The blues genre is based on the blues form but possesses other characteristics such as specific lyrics, bass lines and instruments. Blues can be subdivided into several subgenres ranging from country to urban blues that were more or less popular during different periods of the 20th century. Best known are the Delta, Piedmont, Jump and Chicago blues styles. World War II marked the transition from acoustic to electric blues and the progressive opening of blues music to a wider audience. In the 1960s and 1970s, a hybrid form called blues rock evolved.
The term "the blues" refers to the "the blue devils", meaning melancholy and sadness; an early use of the term in this sense is found in George Colman's one-act farce Blue Devils (1798).[2] Though the use of the phrase in African American music may be older, it has been attested to since 1912, when Hart Wand's "Dallas Blues" became the first copyrighted blues composition.[3][4] In lyrics the phrase is often used to describe a depressed mood.
During the first decades of the 20th century, blues music was not clearly defined in terms of a chord progression.[6] By the 1920s, probably due to the commercial success in the African-American community of singers such as first blues star Bessie Smith, twelve-bar blues became the standard.[7] Other chord progressions, such as 8-bar forms, are still considered blues; examples include "How Long Blues", "Trouble in Mind", and Big Bill Broonzy's "Key to the Highway". There are also 16-bar blues, as in Ray Charles's instrumental "Sweet 16 Bars" and in Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man". Idiosyncratic numbers of bars are also encountered occasionally, as with the 9-bar progression in "Sitting on Top of the World". -
The basic twelve-bar lyric framework of a blues composition is reflected by a standard harmonic progression of twelve bars in a 4/4 time signature. The blues chords associated to a twelve-bar blues are typically a set of three different chords played over a twelve-bar scheme. They are labeled by Roman numbers referring to the degrees of the progression. For instance, for a blues in the key of C, C is the tonic chord (I) and F is the subdominant (IV). The last chord is the dominant (V) turnaround, marking the transition to the beginning of the next progression. The lyrics generally end on the last beat of the tenth bar or the first beat of the eleventh bar, and the final two bars are given to the instrumentalist as a break; the harmony of this two-bar break, the turnaround, can be extremely complex, sometimes consisting of single notes that defy analysis in terms of chords.
Much of the time, some or all of these chords are played in the harmonic seventh (7th) form. The use of the harmonic seventh interval is characteristic of blues and is popularly called the "blues seven".[8] Blues seven chords add to the harmonic chord a note with a frequency in a 7:4 ratio to the fundamental note. At a 7:4 ratio, it is not close to any interval on the conventional Western diatonic scale.[9] For convenience or by necessity it is often approximated by a minor seventh interval or a dominant seventh chord.
In melody, blues is distinguished by the use of the flattened third, fifth and seventh of the associated major scale.[10] These specialized notes are called the blue or bent notes. These scale tones may replace the natural scale tones, or they may be added to the scale, as in the case of the minor blues scale, in which the flattened third replaces the natural third, the flattened seventh replaces the natural seventh and the flattened fifth is added between the natural fourth and natural fifth. While the twelve-bar harmonic progression had been intermittently used for centuries, the revolutionary aspect of blues was the frequent use of the flattened third, flattened seventh, and even flattened fifth in the melody, together with crushing—playing directly adjacent notes at the same time (i.e., diminished second)—and sliding, similar to using grace notes.[11] The blue notes allow for key moments of expression during the cadences, melodies, and embellishments of the blues.
Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and call-and-response, and they form a repetitive effect called a groove. Characteristic of the blues since its Afro-American origins, the shuffles played a central role in swing music.[12] The simplest shuffles, which were the clearest signature of the R&B wave that started in the mid 1940s,[13] were a three-note riff on the bass strings of the guitar. When this riff was played over the bass and the drums, the groove "feel" was created. Shuffle rhythm is often vocalized as "dow, da dow, da dow, da" or "dump, da dump, da dump, da":[14] it consists of uneven, or "swung," eighth notes. On a guitar this may be played as a simple steady bass or it may add to that stepwise quarter note motion from the fifth to the sixth of the chord and back. An example is provided by the following guitar tablature for the first four bars of a blues progression in E:[15][16]
Steven Seagal, one of the world’s most popular motion picture actors, hasn’t finished surprising us yet ! “Songs from the crystal cave” is a true gift to us. His love for music, and especially American Black Music, has grown together with his passion for the guitar, which he has been playing since the age of 14.
As a “blues fan”, Steven Seagal admires and has been inspired by some of the greatest musicians ever, such as Curtis Mayfield, Lightning Hopkins, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King or Robert Johnson. Mixed with world music’s strong influence, his “blues world” compositions appear as natural, subtle, and authentic.
Settled in the United States, Steven Seagal is abroad about 9 months per year, though. His travels have led him to play onstage and record with some of the finest blues musicians, among others : Rock Burton, Léon Russel, TaJ Mahal, Richie Sambora or Delbert Mac Linton. He has also toured with members of the legendary rock group The Band.
Travelling so much and meeting so many people has strongly influenced his music. His faith in Buddhism : “Music is the language of the divine. (…) I believe one can experience complete realization and liberation though sight and sound.” contrasts spectacularly with his actor roles, and brings Steven Seagal’s album an emotional and delicate side.
It took the artist about 5 years to complete "Songs from the Crystal Cave". Steven Seagal being a perfectionist, some of the tracks have been produced by Ric Wake (Shakira, Céline Dion). Jamaican DJ’s Lt. Stitchie, Tony Rebel and Lady Saw (who has turned No Doubt’s « Underneath it all » into a worldwide hit) reinforce the album’s power with their ragga-dancehall dynamic.
The exceptional collaboration of Stevie Wonder on « My God », on which he furiously delivers an amazing harmonica solo, adds some magic to the album and to Steven Seagal’s velvet voice.
These 14 tracks show us Steven Seagal as he has never been seen. The overwhelming reaction of the public (and media) to the album leaves no doubt that Steven Seagal is a consummate musician, a true sensitive, open-minded, honest artist, whose musical career is just starting.
Music is the language of the Gods that can bring all people together and, for this reason, music is an important part of my life.

After the success of 'Songs From The Crystal Cave', Steven Seagal returned to the studio to record 'Mojo Priest'. This was released on mainland Europe on April 20th 2006. The US release followed on May 23rd 2006. The US release contains a few extra tracks that are not available on the European release.
Steven Seagal prefers playing a Fender Stratocaster for electric; Martin Guitars for acoustic playing; owns quite a few different variations of them along with many other guitars in his collection..one of which belonged to Jimi Hendrix..Seagal has also been known to give away guitars to friends...
Songs from the Crystal Cave
Is a 2005 album by Steven Seagal, his first. Seagal is credited with "Lead Vocals, Rhythm and Lead Guitar" and appears on the cover and throughout the liner notes emotively playing and posing with a guitar. The style can be described as "outsider country-meets-world music-meets-Aikido." Many of the songs reflect Seagal's esoteric Buddhist and spiritualist stance.
Musicians collaborating on this album include Stevie Wonder and Lady Saw.
Seagal has sometimes provided soundtrack music for some of his movies. The track "Girl It's Alright", among others was featured in the film Into the Sun.
Recently Conan O'Brien endorsed this album in his role as "America's New Oprah", although Conan has admitted not listening to the album, rather basing his endorsement on the cover.

Girl It's Alright
If I were to say that now I have everything
And I want you to stay no matter what tomorrow brings
Would it make you feel something so real
Like even speaking your mind
Whisper your wildest dreams
Girl it’s alright by me
Once there was a king who lived in a foreign land
Had riches and gold, the envy of every man
But he somehow missed out on what I have now
Cuz if I dream in this world
You’re all that I’ll ever need
Girl it’s alright by me
This is the kind of thing
One might see in a movie
This is the kind of thing
That inspires one’s greatest poetry
Out of a million chances who would have thought
I’d be this kind of lucky one
Girl it’s alright
Girl it’s alright by me
Girl, if I should die and have to go away
I know I’ll be back to see you another day
Cuz this love that we have is one that will last
So let the mountains all cry
Let the sky falling down
We can’t live in the past and the future won’t last
But if I live for today it won’t go away
So please
Know it’s alright,Girl it’s alright by me....

Would you feel the same
If I was invisible, untouchable
Would you call my name
If you no longer see my face
I won’t be far away..
I’ll be in your ocean
I’ll be in the sky
I’ll be forever, don’t you cry
There’s no seperation
Between you and I
I’ll be here forever don’t you cry..
I’ll never die..
In every blade of grass
In every life, and everything
Just look for me
If there’s one thing that lasts
It’s how we share this common space
We’re indestructible..
And if you should think of me
When you feel like talking
I’ll be right here listening
Love is indestructible..
I’ll be in you ocean
I’ll be in the sky
I’ll be forever, don’t you cryü
There’s no seperation
Between you and I
I’ll be here forever don’t you cry..
I’ll never die..

If you sing with me
We can fill the world with harmony
If you dance with me
We can create a better place to be
Walk with me, feel me musically
You gotta let the music be the remedy
If you sing with me
We can change the world with a melody
Desperation, abomination, disintegration, degradation
Poverty, treachery, people fixated on what they need
It ain't about you, it ain't about me
It's about us and the music will set us free
If you sing with me
We can fill the world with harmony
If you dance with me
We can create a better place to be
Walk with me, feel me musically
You gotta let the music be the remedy
If you sing with me
We can change the world with a melody
Music is the language of the people
Music is the language of the highest
Drink the music, let the melody demolish the carnage of ignorance, prejudice
Envy, greed and hate
The possibility of unity
People fixated on what they need
It ain't about you
It ain't about me
It's about us and the music will set us free
If you sing with me
We can fill the world with harmony
If you dance with me
We can create a better place to be
Walk with me, feel me musically
You gotta let the music be the remedy
If you sing with me, sing with me, sing with me
If you sing with me
If you dance with me
Rock with me, feel me musically
If you sing with me

If only I said all the right words
That I needed to say
I probably wouldn’t feel this way,
Some are born
On the wrong side of the moon
Girl it’s killing me
To keep hurting you
So I’m writing it down in a letter
And I’m hoping that you’ll understand
I know girl that you can do better
And it’s out of my hands
So go on girl
Find you a better man
Yeah better man
Well a woman like you
Is so hard to find
But to stay here with me
Is throwing pearls to the swine
Why I did you like that
Girl I can not even say
But I hope in your heart
You forgive me someday
And I know that it’s gonna be lonely
But I know you’ll do the best that you can
With me you’ll only end up losing
And that wasn’t my plan
So go on girl
Find you a better man
So I’m writing it down in a letter
And I’m hoping that you’ll understand
Cause I know girl that you can do better
And it’s out of my hands
So go on girl
Find you a better man
Yeah better man
Find you a better man

Do you fear me
You can't stand to be near me
Well i come from a different place
My philosophy's from outer space
My religion is strange
I think it's cause you fear change
Afraid to try and understand
A stranger in a strange land
Don't think i'm going away
You best believe i'm here to stay
Cause my God is better than your God
Maybe you don't like my skin
Or what i believe in
You don't like my prayer
You don't like the clothes i wear
How many people have to die
For what one man might think is right
The true path to like is more than one
Why do you force your will with a gun
Let's start another holy war
I'll show you what i'm killing for
My God is better than your God
My God is bigger than yours
My God is better than your God
My God is bigger than yours
Well i'm a Muslim
I'm a Buddhist
I'm a Hindu, a Catholic, a Jew
Everything you fear in me is all a part of you
When there's something you believe in
And there's something you have to say
Don't let the bullets preach for you to facilitate your way
Well beat me with your doctorine
Convert me if you can
Deliver me from the guilt
But leave me with the sin
Cause my God is better than your God
My God is bigger than yours
My God is better than your God
My God is bigger than yours
Songs From The Crystal Cave : War
Tell them.. Tell them.. Tell them..
No more war..
There's always a story
But we never know what it's for
They say we are going to war
But it's never what we say we are fighting for
Greed, lies and hate
Murder, and it's all bacuse of what ?
Well it might be tobacco
Or it might be a little of
Might be some big bussiness
Or a little tiny piece of soil
Greed, lies and hate
And it's all because of what ?
War
And it's all because of what ?
War
Nice shirt, nice tie
Nice look in your eye
So tell me why we will never see you
Where the bullets fly
You sit in your big house
And you watch it on TV
Murder in the jungle
Murder in the streets
You will sell us these lies
Like a can of soup
But I know the real enemy is one you cannot dupe
History is a lie Agreed upon
It's all because of what ?
War
It's all because of what ?
War
=Rap=
War in Pakistan
War in Afghanistan
War in Iraq
War in Iran
Rumors of one, rumors of war
Me see it on da near and me see it on the far
Tell them.. Tell them.. Tell them..
Chase down de devil tell 'em what we fightin' for...

Ain’t no black and there ain’t no white
Ain’t no darkness and there ain’t no light
It’s all just illusion
In these different shades of life
I’ve been trying
But I’m still not finding
What it’s all supposed to mean
In the somewhere in between
Come to me baby
See it through my eyes
When you wake up in the morning
And it’s all a pack of lies
Seems like we’re always trying
To unravel the disguise
Now I‘ve been searching
But I’m still uncertain
What tomorrow’s gonna bring
‘Cause I lie for you baby
And I live for you baby
And I’d die for you baby
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do
Because of how much I love you
But you don’t see it my way
And you can’t hear what I say
So let’s call it another day
In this other world of broken dreams
In the somewhere in between
Solo
I’m gonna love you anyway
Ain’t no doubt gonna stand in my way
I’ll pay the price that you want me to pay
Anytime of the night or day
Cause I was born to make you love me
Cause I live for you baby
And I die for you baby
From the promise you made me
And the hope that you gave me
In the somewhere in between

If I can’t find him soon

Gamble all the time
Carries me a 45
And play dice with a dime
You know I love that gambling
But it keeps me from my baby
If I can’t quit this thing
I’m gon hat to find me another lady
I got to slow down

Well my boss gave me the wages
So I went down to the market
Before I bought some bread
Somebody took it from my pocket
Now you see why
I have a suspicious mind
My momma done told me
You gonna have to meet all kinds
I thought the preacher stole my Cadillac
So I looked him in the eye
I asked him for the truth and he told me a lie
Well we settled in the middle now I'm too poor to die
But I seem to keep on movin and i'm too proud to cry
But I keep on moving
But I seem to keep on movin
Well I seem to keep on movin and I'm too proud to cry
I met a little pretty and she told me that she loved me
If I wanted things to go well I should try to meet her family
I bought a diamond ring and I showed it to her mother she told me it was too small
And the daughter had another man
Another man
So you see why

I’m gonna get up in the morning
I believe I'll dust my broom
I’m gonna get up in the morning
I believe I'll dust my broom
I’m gonna quit the gal I’m lovin’
While my friend can have my room
I believe I believe my time aint long
I believe I believe my time aint long
I got a letter from my baby
And she tried to break up our happy home
Solo
I don’t want no woman
To stay drunk all the time
I don’t want no woman
To stay drunk all the time
Well that’s a no good darling
About to drive me outta my mind
I’m gonna call my Miss Fanny
She's my good girl over there
I’m gonna call my Miss Fanny
She's my good girl over there
Well I can’t find my baby
She must be in Ethiopia somewhere
I’m gonna get up in the morning
I believe I'll dust my broom
I’m gonna get up in the morning
I believe I'll dust my broom
I’m gonna quit the gal I’m lovin’
While my friend can have my room
I believe I believe my time aint long
I believe I believe my time aint long
I got a letter from my baby
She said she’d break up our happy home
I’m gonna write me a letter
I’m gonna telephone every town I know
I’m gonna write me a letter
Telephone every town I know
Well she not in New Orleans she in East Monroe you know
I don’t want no woman
Stay drunk all the time
I don’t want no woman
Stay drunk all the time
That’s a no good darlin
She bout to make me loose my mind
I’m gonna call my Miss Fanny
She's my good girl over there
I’m gonna call my Miss Fanny
She's my good girl over there
Well it seems I can’t find my baby
She must be in Ethiopia somewhere
Mojo Priest : Slow Boat To China
________________________________________
I must be on the slow boat to China
Baby why can’t you give me what I need
I said I must be on the slow boat to China
Lord why can’t you give me what I need
Don’t you think I know the difference
Between necessity and greed
Baby you are the light of my life
How could you make me so sad
Baby you are the light of my life
How could you make me so sad
What happened to all of what we were together
And the beautiful life, that we had
You know all last night I looked for you
All I did was wander, All I did was wander
Through the streets
all last night I looked for you
All I did was wander
Through the streets
Now I feel like I can’t get out the bed
I can’t get out the bed
Seem like all I wanna do is sleep
How can my love for you be so alive
How can your love for me be so far away
How can my love for you be so alive
How can your love for me be so far away
How can all the lovely words you said to me baby
Be something that you’d betray
Has anybody seen my baby
She told me that she loved me
And that she would be there
Has anybody seen my baby
My baby told me my baby told me
that she would be there
I know that she would never leave me
I know she wont hurt me
I know that she cares
I know you can’t find me
Do you think I got lost in this here town
I know you can’t find me
Do you think I got lost in this here town
I’m fixin to leave this place
And I’ll have to put you down
Baby you know I love you, yes I do
But I’m gonna have to let you go
Baby you know I love you, you know I love you
But I gotta let you go
I’m just tryin to find how to tell you
But I’ll always love you so
Baby please tell me what happened
Baby please don’t break my heart
Baby please tell me what happened
Please don’t break my heart
Sometimes a tree gets struck by lightning
Sometimes it gets old and falls apart
Oh yeah

Shake your body like a aftershock
